So weit ist es gut. Die von der Regierung eingeführten Maßnahmen sind gedacht, um die Ausbreitung der Krankheit unter Kontrolle zu halten.
4) Gibt es ein System der sozialen Sicherheit, das Menschen in Not oder denen hilft, die von der Situation wirtschaftlich betroffen sind?

In größerem Maße ja, obwohl die Regierung in manchen Situationen versucht, die Informationen zu ihrem Vorteil zu manipulieren.
9) Woher bekommen Sie Ihre Informationen?
Wie ich bereits gesagt habe, über den Zugang zu Zeitungen und elektronischen Medien, zusätzlich zu den periodischen Ansprachen des Amtes und des Präsidenten an die Nation.

Ja, wir warten auf die Aufhebung der Sperre.
12) Was halten Sie persönlich von den Maßnahmen, die die Regierung für Schulen und Bildungseinrichtungen ergriffen hat?
Ich nehme an, die Maßnahmen sind im Interesse der Lernenden, der Schulen und Bildungseinrichtungen.
13) Wie haben die Kinder auf diese Maßnahmen reagiert? Haben sie mehr über diese Situation gefragt?

1. Which measures have been taken by the government in order to prevent the spread of the virus?
The news on the prevalence of the virus surfaced by mid- March 2020, where government came up with a string of guidelines to abate the quick spread of the virus among which were the following measures:
Keeping of social distance in places of gatherings of at least 4 meters apart.
Campaign on regular hand washing with soap and sanitizers.
Stopping handshakes and body contacts.
Avoidance of touching of open body parts i.e. eyes, ears and nose.
Wearing of face masks to prevent contagion of the virus through air from person to person.
Restricted Boarder entry to persons and passenger vehicles/Aeroplanes, except for cargo haulage.
Setting up of quarantine centers for suspected victims and thorough screening for treatment.
2) Are people in your environment following the measures?
People have by and large responded well to the measures in place.
3) Do you think the government has reacted well? So far so good the measures introduced by the government have been plausible in as far as keeping in control the spread of the disease.
4) Is there a social security system that helps people in need or those who are economically affected by the situation? Government has doled out basic life requirements to sections of vulnerable groups of people. Although to some extent the exercise lacked proper order of distribution, and for how long this will go on is everyone’s guess for as long as the virus still exist.
5) What do you know about the Virus COVID-19? It manifests itself as erstwhile Spanish Flu of the late 1800 period. This is believed to have originated from Wuhan (China) with devastating signs and symptoms of the common flue like headache, high fever, dry cough, thrombosis of the circulatory system etc.
6) Do you know how the situation is like in other countries? Yes, I have been following the situation on how the World has been affected, through the print and electronic media channels since the pandemic broke out early March 2020.
7) How did your life change with the political measures against the virus? Has something changed? I believe the political measures are meant for the good of the citizenry, although there are always two sides to the coin. The lock-down debilitating effects have lasted longer than expected, hence disorganizing peoples’ ways and style of living.
8) Are you satisfied with the information you get from the political system? To a greater extent yes, although in some situation they try to manipulate it to their advantage.
9) Where do you get your information? Like I have said before, through access to print and electronic media, in addition to intermittent address sessions to the Nation from the line ministry and Head of State.
10) How did your workplace change? Not only my work place, this situation has affected almost every work activity one can think of, more so when normal business resume.
11) Is the Foundation “Kirabo Doors of Hope” currently closed? Yes, waiting for the lifting of lockdown.
12) What do you personally think of the measures taken by the government for schools and educational institutions? I suppose there are working in the best interest of learners i.e. schools and educational institutions.
13) How did children react to these measures? Did they ask more about this situation? The learners are young and naive to follow closely what is happening around them.
14) How does the current work with children look like? Does the school still work in some way (through other methods)? Presently nothing much at the ground except for a proposal for distance learning which is yet to be implemented.
15) Is there any kind of support from the government for Kirabo and the teachers (financial support, school materials or other support)? None government is overstretched to even afford giving support to its own schools.

10) ¿Cómo ha cambiado su lugar de trabajo?
Esta situación ha afectado no sólo a mi lugar de trabajo, sino a casi todas las actividades laborales imaginables. Esto dificulta aún más la reanudación de las actividades comerciales normales.
11) ¿Está actualmente cerrada la Fundación "Puertas de Esperanza de Kirabo"?
Sí, estamos esperando que se levante el bloqueo.
12) ¿Qué opina personalmente sobre las medidas que el gobierno ha tomado para las escuelas e instituciones educativas?
Supongo que las medidas son en interés de los estudiantes, escuelas e instituciones educativas.
13) ¿Cómo han reaccionado los niños a estas medidas? ¿Preguntaron más sobre esta situación?
Los estudiantes son jóvenes e ingenuos para seguir exactamente lo que sucede a su alrededor.
